Help Lend a Hand in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Autographed memorabilia from notables will help raise money at upcoming golf tournament.

Washington, D.C. Metro Area – The 2nd Annual Betty T. Wooten ‘Play in Pink’ Golf Tournament gains momentum as authentic autographed memorabilia from President Obama, award winning athletes and musical legends are donated for the events silent auction. The money raised benefits the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, which funds breast cancer awareness, education, screening, access to treatment and support services worldwide. The tournament will take on Monday, April 26th at the Country Club at Woodmore in Mitchellville, MD.


The 2nd Annual Betty T. Wooten ‘Play in Pink’ Golf Tournament will feature 18-holes of golf, a silent auction and awards ceremony. An autographed baseball signed by President Barack Obama, boxing gloves autographed by Muhammad Ali and a framed Aretha Franklin album are among the many authentic memorabilia and other unique items that will be sold during the silent auction to help raise funds for breast cancer awareness.

“The Betty T. Wooten Foundation and its team of volunteers have worked extremely hard this year to make the 2010 golf tournament an overwhelming success,” said Lorenzo Wooten Tournament Co-Chair. “We have spent countless hours making phone calls, writing letters, talking to elected officials, businesses and organizations around the country to secure sponsorship and donated items for this year’s tournament. The dedication everyone has shown to this event and this worthy cause is overwhelming.”

In addition to the silent auction, each registered golfer will be given a complimentary dry-fit golf shirt and a one-year premium membership to Boxgroove.com, an on-line golf reservation system that allows golfers to book tee-times at private clubs throughout the United States. “We are proud to partner with the Betty T.
