About Mount Vintage Golf Club

Mount Vintage Golf Club is a members and guests only club that offers golfers of all abilities a 27-hole championship golf course that has been likened to The Augusta National by Golf Magazine.

The superior golfing experience at the Mount Vintage Golf Club is the result of our extreme attention to detail and the exacting standards of our highly experienced maintenance staff.

The Club is situated among some of the most dramatic topography in the region and is noted for its lush tree cover, Crenshaw Bentgrass greens, stacked-stone bridges and a similar look to Augusta National (Golf Magazine). Each brilliant green fairway provides breathtaking views. You’ll love the challenging play and amazing design of this incomparable course that has been called ‘a magnificent layout’ by golf legend, Byron Nelson.

A state-of-the-art practice facility, stocked Pro Shop, tavern-like Grille, locker rooms and other amenities help complete the Mount Vintage Golf Club experience.

Chester Nine

Opened in 2000, the Chester nine was the front nine of our original 18 holes. Now it plays as the highest rated of our three nines. The Chester nine features nine challenging holes with rolling fairways, well guarded greens, and putting surfaces that would make the even the best putter tremble. With five different teeing grounds to choose from it can be enjoyed by any skill level.

From 2000 to 2004 the Chester nine played as the front nine for the LPGA Asahi Ryokuken International Championship. Since 2010 it has also played as the front nine for the NGA Tour Kandy Waters Memorial Classic. Chester has been part of accolades such as “Top 30 Courses you can play in South Carolina” in 2008 and 2010 by the South Carolina Golf Course Rating Panel as well as “Number One Course in the Midlands Region for South Carolina” in 2009 and 2011.

When one plays the Chester nine they can’t help but to be taken back by the beauty of the elevation change and sheer design of the holes. Behind the beauty of Chester lies some teeth. The first five holes can offer a challenge to even the best golfer but the second half can be quite rewarding. With the 6th hole likened to Augusta National and holes 7, 8, and 9 offering scenic views, one can come off of Chester wanting to go right back and play it again.

Vintage Nine

Opened in 2000, the Vintage nine was back nine of our original 18 holes. Now it plays as the longest of our three nines. Elevation change comes in to play most dramatically on Vintage. On 8 out of the 9 holes there is a downhill or uphill shot of at least 30 feet. This makes the golfer think just a little bit more on each shot. Vintage could be argued as the most breathtaking of the three nines at Mount Vintage.

From 2000 to 2004 the Vintage nine played as the back nine for the LPGA Asahi Ryokuken International Championship. Since 2010 it has also played as the back nine for the NGA Tour Kandy Waters Memorial Classic. Vintage has been part of accolades such as “Top 30 Courses you can play in South Carolina” in 2008 and 2010 by the South Carolina Golf Course Rating Panel as well as “Number One Course in the Midlands Region for South Carolina” in 2009 and 2011.

The Pavilion Lake area on Vintage is the signature of Mount Vintage. Holes 5, 6, and 7, a par 4, par 3, and par 5, all surround Pavilion Lake. With challenging shots and dramatic views the Pavilion Lake area has been called the “Amen Corner” of Mount Vintage. Golfers coming off the Vintage nine will leave with a feeling of awe and respect for the nine holes of golf they just played.

Independent Nine

Opened in 2008, the Independent nine was the 3rd nine to be added to Mount Vintage Golf Club. Independent has characteristics that match the original 18 holes but is still an “Independent” nine of its own. With long sweeping fairways and water coming into play on 8 out of the 9 holes one could see why the Independent 9 could be called fun to play. It features many risk/reward holes that could make the nine very different to play each time.

Since 2009, the Independent 9 has played as one of the nines for the Annual Carolinas/Georgia Junior Golf Championship. It has been part of accolades such as “Top 30 Courses you can play in South Carolina” in 2008 and 2010 by the South Carolina Golf Course Rating Panel as well as “Number One Course in the Midlands Region for South Carolina” in 2009 and 2011.

In 2011 the 8th hole on the Independent nine was named to PGA.com’s South Carolina Dream 18: Hidden Gems. This accomplishment compared the 8th hole to holes on other course such as Kiawah Island and Harbor Town Golf Club. With stacked stone and a waterfall running from the back teeing ground down to the green, one must stop and take a look at the picturesque 8th hole on Independent. The 9th hole is equally scenic but presents a very tough finishing hole. The long par 5 culminates with an uphill second and third shot to a green heavily guarded and very undulated. The front tier of the green is separated from the back tier with a four foot ridge. Golfers must make sure they have their distance correct hitting their uphill approach shot or they could end up putting it off the front. When you finish the Independent nine at Mount Vintage you leave wanting another shot.
