The course is highly regarded in terms of the quality and playability by the Connecticut State Golf Association and by the golf professionals in the State. The Torrington Country Club

has been the site of the 1994 and 2006 Connecticut Amateur Championship, the 2005

Women’s Amateur Championship, the 1999 New England Women’s Championship.

Incidentally, the 1994 State Amateur was won by J. J. Henry who is currently on the PGA

tour.
