Oakhurst

Arthur Hills’ thoughtful design fits gently into the Michigan countryside, weaving its way through about-the-course-oakhurstthe woods of oak, pine, maple and protected wetlands surrounding more than 500 strategically placed home sites.

Hills, whose course designs have won numerous Golf Digest awards, has incorporated significant risk-reward factors into the golf course, tempting you to go for it but providing welcome bailout areas if your best laid plans go awry.

There is a premium here on well-placed tee shots and there are many scenarios where just hitting the fairway is not enough because you'll want to favor one part of the fairway for the best approach shot.

Our L-93 bent grass greens range from our postage-stamp No. 3 at 4,500 square feet, to No. 17, which tops out at 8,700 square feet. The short No. 3, a 389-yard par 4 over wetlands, requires an approach shot from 100-150 yards. A bunker on the left protects the green, which has a small drop-off in front and rolling terrain all around it.
